June 19-21, 2009: Welcome the Big Green Bus!

The Big Green Bus (www.thebiggreenbus.org) returns to DC on its 5th tour!  The waste veggie oil-powered bus is back, with a new bus and even more energy-saving interactive displays.  The 15 Dartmouth students on this summer's country-wide tour are spreading the message about individual action and lifestyle changes that will all add up to a difference for the future.

We invite you to meet the Bus Crew and tour the Bus at any one of several events planned for June 19th and 20th.

The Big Green Bus will be parked at the Shirley Povich Baseball Field in Bethesda for the Bethesda Big Train's (www.bigtrain.org) baseball team's Carnival night on Saturday, June 20th, in conjunction with Bethesda Green and our sponsor Honest Tea.  Come out early for the 7:30 pm baseball game to see the Bus, as well as enjoy other great family-friendly events planned for this special night!

Mission statement: The Big Green Bus seeks to educate Americans about how to create a future that sustains people, the economy, and the environment by promoting energy conservation and efficiency, renewable energy, waste reduction, healthy food, and civic action.

Our message is that people, economy, and environment are all interconnected and that while there is no perfect solution, there are 5 things that can help protect the environment, save money, and create a more sustainable present and future:

1. Reduce consumption and recycle

2. Energy efficiency

3. Renewable energy

4. Food: Local, seasonal, organic, fair trade, and homemade

5. Get involved, take action, and vote
